Steven Elliott

Steve is a tax director at Mercer Advisors where he helps ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their families, handling tax strategies, compliance and planning. He serves as a tax subject matter expert for the Mercer Advisors tax team and provides regular thought leadership around tax issues for clients.

Steve has more than 40 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a tax specialist. Prior to joining Mercer Advisors in 2022, he was director of tax services at the wealth manager Cresset Asset Management, and before that he was tax technical director at Baker Tilly. Steve also worked at Ernst and Young, handling sports team executives and owners.

Steve graduated cum laude from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration in accounting, and magna cum laude from Bentley University with a master’s in taxation. He has also earned Advanced Taxation and Personal Financial Planning certificates from Bentley. He is a current member of the American Institute of CPAs (Tax Section) and the Texas State Society of CPAs. He also is an adjunct income tax professor at Houston Christian University.

A father of five, Steve lives with his wife Margaret in Katy, Texas, where he is active as a church council member and facilitator for grief support groups, helping those suffering loss.
