Denver, CO. October 6, 2021. Mercer Global Advisors Inc. (“Mercer Advisors”), a national Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) firm, today announced that the firm has launched a new business group within Mercer Advisors designed specifically to provide institutional investment management and financial educational services to small and mid-sized businesses. This segment of the market has traditionally been under-served by established investment and wealth management firms.
Mercer Advisors has a rich history of serving small to medium sized businesses and has significantly expanded those capabilities through several acquisitions in recent years. Building upon Mercer Advisors’ success in providing investment management services in the institutional marketplace with over $3B in assets under management, the new Institutional Group will service three growing markets: Foundations and Endowments, Retirement Plans and Pensions, and Financial Wellness in the Workplace.
“Over the last few years, our inorganic growth strategy of M&A has provided us with dividends beyond just AUM growth,” said Dave Welling, Mercer Advisors CEO. “Several of our new partners have deep expertise and a focus on the institutional space. Combined with Mercer Advisors’ rich legacy of serving these markets, the new Institutional Group provides a tremendous opportunity for growth by providing more businesses with an experienced and dedicated partner to serve their needs.”
Key to the success and differentiation of Mercer Advisors’ Institutional Group is a fiduciary focus with a clear priority on process to ensure client interests are put first. As part of that approach, Mercer Advisor’s investment methodology is academically driven, transparent, and robust. This scientific approach is designed to help institutional clients achieve investment goals and sustain spending objectives on an inflation-adjusted basis, in perpetuity.
The institutional investment team builds portfolios that aim to maximize long-term expected returns, minimize risks, and do so at low cost. Mercer Advisors’ offering is a strong differentiator and value added offering, typically not available in the small to mid-size marketplace.
As part of the formation of the Institutional Group, Mercer Advisors has also named several practice leaders to guide the development of the offering and provide deep subject matter expertise to clients. The Practice leaders named to the Foundation & Endowments group are Stephanie Anderson, Bill Berg, Mark Eshman, Harmon Laurin and Mark Smith. For the Retirement plan segment the Practice leaders are David Carmichael, Jaron Carmichael, Jessica Caruso, Ron Kibbe, Tim Rowland, and Jim Ryan. Paul Seidman was also named as Senior Vice President of Business Development focused on institutional clients.
“Our goal is to capitalize on our large group of talented, seasoned specialists who bring expertise, process, and comprehensive investment solutions to service more clients,” said Karen Lee, Chief Business Solutions Officer for Mercer Advisors and Business Lead for the new Institutional Group. “We see a tremendous opportunity in the Institutional space and will continue to invest in our capabilities to further expand Mercer Advisors as a leading national RIA firm.”
