Question

Does Mercer Advisors (or its investment professionals) earn investment brokerage commissions?

Answer

Mercer Advisors’ investment advisory work is fee-based, not commission-based. A limited number of Mercer Advisors’ financial professionals are separately licensed with the affiliated broker-dealer Mercer Advisors Brokerage Solutions (Heim, Young & Associates, Inc.) and, when acting in that brokerage capacity, may earn commissions — a disclosed conflict of interest separate from their advisory role at Mercer Advisors. No client is required to use Mercer Advisors Brokerage Solutions for brokerage services. When evaluating any advisor, ask when they act as an adviser and when they act as a broker — the two roles carry different standards and different compensation.
