Question

Does Mercer Advisors (or its investment professionals) sell commission-based insurance products?

Answer

Advisory work at Mercer Advisors is not commission-driven. A limited number of Mercer Advisors representatives are separately licensed to sell insurance products through Mercer Advisors Insurance Services (MAIS) or independently, and in that separate licensed capacity they may earn commissions on the sale of insurance products — a disclosed conflict of interest. Mercer Advisors’ structural safeguard is client choice: no client is required to purchase insurance through Mercer Advisors or any affiliate, and every commission arrangement is disclosed. When evaluating any advisor’s insurance recommendation, ask how the professional is compensated and whether alternatives outside the firm are available.
