James S. Ryan

Jim began his wealth management career in 1979 as the founder of First Ohio Planning, which he operated until it joined Mercer Advisors in 2020. He has a passion for helping individuals and families and solving problems in the most personal and important aspects of their lives.

Jim earned his law degree from Capital University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. His areas of expertise include high-net-worth financial planning, life insurance strategies, estate planning, and company-sponsored retirement plans. He is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional.

Outside of the office, you might find Jim playing tennis, pickleball, or squash. He also enjoys reading and traveling. Jim supports Meals on Wheels and has held several nonprofit board positions, including at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
