James Johnstone

James is a senior estate planning strategist at Mercer Advisors, where he assists individuals and families with designing comprehensive estate plans to help achieve their financial and personal goals. His planning focuses on the efficient transfer of wealth across generations, strategic asset protection, and thoughtful preparation for incapacity.

Before joining Mercer Advisors, James practiced law at a private estate planning firm. He earned his JD from Ave Maria School of Law and holds both a B.S. in finance and an MBA from Florida Gulf Coast University. While at FGCU, James was an active member of the varsity cross-country team, the triathlon club, and the hockey team.

Although he remains active in youth sports — as a board member of the Junior Everblades Hockey Association and as a youth hockey coach — his favorite time is spent with his family.
