Bob Burlinson

Vice Chairman, Regis Group

I believe successful investing isn’t about predicting the future. It’s about managing risk thoughtfully, understanding market cycles, and staying focused on what matters most to each client’s goals

Meet Bob

Bob is a Vice Chairman in the Regis Group and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He joined Mercer Advisors in 2021 through the acquisition of Regis Management Company, the firm he founded in 2000. Regis Management Company specialized in helping private investors in Silicon Valley pursue private equity, venture capital, and private real estate investments. He began his career in New York City investment banking, where he worked with private equity funds on private debt financings and mergers and acquisitions. He was the first employee of Industrial Growth Partners, a leveraged buyout firm, where he sourced, evaluated, and completed several acquisitions that resulted in profitable exits.

In his current role, Bob specializes in overseeing the selection of private investment funds and co-investments, including private equity, venture capital, private credit, and real estate. Bob earned an A.B. degree from Stanford University and an MBA from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

His working style

Bob brings a data-driven perspective grounded in a deep understanding of historical market cycles. He believes that humility and disciplined risk management are more valuable than market predictions, recognizing that forecasting the future is inherently uncertain. Instead, he focuses on helping clients understand market behavior and make informed decisions through changing conditions. Bob also takes a comprehensive view of wealth management, drawing on his cross-functional knowledge to connect investment strategy with estate planning and philanthropic goals to help ensure all aspects of a client’s financial life work together cohesively.
