Bob is the senior director of private investments at Mercer Advisors where he specializes in overseeing the selection of private investment funds and co-investments, including private equity, venture capital, private credit, and real estate. He is passionate about understanding the innovation and impact of private companies, their role powering the economy and job creation, and how such firms can boost investor portfolios.
Based in San Francisco, Bob brings to Mercer Advisors 34 years of hands-on experience in the world of private investments. He began his career in New York City investment banking, where he worked with private equity funds on private debt financings and mergers and acquisitions. He was the first employee of Industrial Growth Partners, a leveraged buyout firm, where he sourced, evaluated, and completed several acquisitions that resulted in profitable exits.
In 2000, Bob founded Regis Management Company, a firm specializing in helping private investors in Silicon Valley sponsor private equity, venture capital, and private real estate investments. His firm partnered with Mercer Advisors in 2021, bringing its depth of expertise and capabilities in-house.
A lifelong musician, Bob has played in guitar bands since high school and helped finance his education at Stanford by performing at shows in the Bay Area. He also earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Bob is married to Nan Burton Burlinson, a Stanford classmate who works as a psychotherapist for high-risk teens in San Rafael, California. They have five sons.
Bob’s commitment to community service includes nearly 20 years on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, serving on the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation, and 17 years on the Skoll Foundation investment committee.
