September 16, 2024 – Mercer Advisors is honored to have one of its wealth advisors recognized on the 2024 Money’s Best Financial Planners list. Kimberly Foss, a Senior Wealth Advisor based in the Sacramento, California area is featured on the list, which is a partnership between Money and the Financial Planning Association (FPA). 1,000 advisors completed a comprehensive survey from which Money and FPA selected 80 for this list. 

This award reflects the dedication and commitment that the team at Mercer Advisors have to the company’s 31,000+ clients. Like all of our 300+ advisors, Kimberly is dedicated to simplifying and amplifying the financial lives of her clients. 

The recognition program scores the nominees in four categories: 

• Qualifications (30% of overall score): A combination of education, ongoing training, and experience on the job was considered. 

• Specialties (25% of overall score): Advisors must be experienced in planning for investment, retirement, taxes, estates, and budgeting/debt. 

• Trust (25% of overall score): The ability to create trust and empathy with clients and to demonstrate high ethical standards was required. 

• Customer service (20% of overall score): How clearly and flexibly advisors deliver financial advice. 

Methodology: Money partnered with FPA to encourage the Association’s membership to complete a comprehensive questionnaire from June 18 – July 17, 2024, including the crucial cohort of over 12,000 CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals who are currently members. The questionnaire was distributed to gauge their professional experience, supplementary credentials, and communication practices with clients, among other factors in building strong relationships with clients. 

The questionnaire yielded responses from more than 1,000 financial planners. Their submissions were evaluated based on their experience, qualifications, and adherence to best practices established by empirical research to foster trust and satisfaction in financial planning. Additionally, the accuracy of the key credentials reported by the planners was verified, and their professional records were subsequently vetted by reviewing regulator and licensing body reporting. 

Following the vetting process, 80 financial planners emerged as standout candidates due to their exceptional scores in key areas: qualifications, trustworthiness, versatility, customer service, and maintaining impeccable professional records. These honorees represent a diverse mix, originating from over 30 states, spanning an age range from 26 to 65+, and encompassing both independent planners and those associated with large companies.
