Mercer Advisors' Privacy Notice

Privacy Policy Principles
At Mercer Global Advisors, Inc.1 our most important asset is our relationship with our clients. We honor and serve that relationship by maintaining the highest standards of trust and confidence which includes safeguarding our client’s information.  Mercer Advisors is dedicated to the enhancement of our clients’ personal, professional, and financial lives. Together our companies work to deliver cutting edge products and services to our clients.

If and when appropriate, Mercer Advisors believes it is important for us to have the ability to share information about our clients not only with our affiliated companies but also with non-affiliated business partners, i.e., third party plan administrators for our 401(k) plans2, asset custodians (such as Schwab or SEI), Scottsdale Center for Dentistry, and Patterson Companies, Inc., whom support many of our programs and services. Sharing pertinent information helps us maximize the services that we can provide to our clients, creating, in effect, a personal, professional and financial services supermarket with a wide range of products all under one roof. The convenience and the potential savings to our clients are real strengths.

Please know our clients’ privacy is not for sale. Simply put, we do not and will not sell our clients non-public personal information to anyone, for any reason, at any time.

The personal information that we may collect, maintain, and communicate within affiliated and non-affiliated business partners is name, address, phone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail addresses, and other biographical information including about income, assets, current investments, investment experience, practice data, etc.

How We Protect Your Personal Information
The confidence placed in us by our clients is not taken lightly, and the companies have implemented extraordinary measures to:

  • Ensure continued confidentiality of all client data whether it be biographical, professional or financial.
  • Ensure the physical and electronic security of client records.
  • Protect against any anticipated threats to the security of such records.
  • Protect against unauthorized access to such records that could result in substantial harm or inconvenience to the client.

For example, Mercer Advisors takes numerous steps to ensure the confidentiality of its client data including, but not limited to:

  • Storage of hard copy client records in secure rooms and/or buildings with alarms and under lock and key.
  • Computer software and passwords limiting electronic access to confidential client data.
  • Where appropriate affiliated and non-affiliated companies are required to execute nondisclosure agreement(s) regarding the use and disclosure of confidential information.
  • Requiring key employees to execute employment agreements assuring confidentiality of company client data during and after employment.
  • Client data is disseminated within the companies on a "need to know" basis and in accordance with and subject to pertinent Employee Handbook Guidelines.
  • Written and electronic communications policies confirm that all information stored in company systems is the property of the companies, not our employees.
  • Conducting exit interviews wherein terminated employees affirm that they have returned to the originator, or left with their department, all proprietary information that the employee has in his/her possession.
  • Eliminating an employee’s access to data upon termination of employment.

We have a long and established tradition of discretion and respect for clients' personal privacy. We reinforce this daily in the way we routinely handle sensitive client information as part of our day-to-day operations. Nothing is more important to our business than the trust and confidence our customers have in us.

If a client prefers for us to not share personal non-public information with our non-affiliated business partners, they can contact our compliance department at (805) 565-2578 or fax a request to the compliance department at (805) 565-2670.  If the client’s primary address on our records is in California or Vermont, we will not share the client’s information with our non-affiliated business partners unless they “opt-in” or affirmatively give us consent to do so. However, by signing the adviser agreement, affirmative consent has been given.
