History

Explore our beginnings.

1985 — The investment advisory company that was the predecessor of Mercer Advisors was founded by Kendrick Mercer.

1986 — The company moved to Santa Barbara, California. At this time, company services were expanded from investment advice to include financial planning and investment management.

1989 — The company had proven successful and was managing assets in excess of $245 million. To reflect its growing breadth, the company name was changed to Mercer Global Advisors (MGA).

1989 thru 2001 — Branch offices were opened in cities across the country, assets under management grew to more than $1.4 billion and the firm received medical and dental associations endorsements from coast to coast.

2001 — Mercer Global Advisors added dental practice management consulting expertise to its service offerings when it merged with ExperDent, a practice management consultancy specializing in dental practices. A new company was forged — Mercer Advisors, Mastery and Transitions.

2001 thru 2008 — The synergies of integrated practice management and financial management service offerings proved even more powerful than originally expected. The company experienced phenomenal growth, expanding its client base to more than 3,300 clients and increasing assets under management to $3.9 billion in October 2007.

Recognizing that major investments were required to enable the firm to reach it’s full potential, in June 2008, the company owners succeeded in securing capital from an outside investor. Renamed Mercer Advisors Inc. and with a new leadership team, the company was poised to reach its next level of success.

2011 — Despite the recession, Mercer Advisor once again reaches $3.9 billion in assets under management in May 2011 and continues to grow incrementally.
